By the end of this page, you'll know exactly what's safe to keep and what gets removed when you deactivate or delete Ultimate Cursor.
Applies to Ultimate Cursor 2.3.1+ and Ultimate Cursor Pro 2.0.0+.
Deactivating vs deleting
Deactivating the plugin (free or Pro) keeps all your settings intact — nothing is deleted. This is safe to do temporarily, for troubleshooting a conflict, without losing your configuration.
Deleting the free plugin runs its uninstall routine, which removes your saved settings permanently.
What full uninstall removes
When you delete Ultimate Cursor (not just deactivate):
- Both settings options (cursor and background configurations) are deleted.
- The welcome-screen redirect transient is cleared.
- Two per-user "dismissed promo" flags are cleared.
- Any posts or pages you've created yourself are never touched — the plugin doesn't delete your content.
Multisite
On a multisite install, the cleanup above runs once per site in the network, not just the site where you triggered the deletion.
If your Pro license lapses
Deactivating or losing a Pro license does not delete your premium settings — they stay in the database, dormant. Ultimate Cursor Pro itself has no uninstall routine at all; the free plugin's license gate simply stops sending premium values to the browser while the license is inactive. If you reactivate or renew, everything you'd configured reappears exactly as you left it.
