Elementor Add-on Cursors vs a Dedicated Cursor Plugin: ElementsKit, Essential Addons, Premium Addons and More

ElementsKit, Essential Addons, Premium Addons, Jeg Kit and Unlimited Elements all list a custom cursor — mostly in Pro. How they compare with a dedicated, free cursor plugin that works on any builder.

Most big Elementor add-on packs now include a custom cursor, but in nearly all of them it's a Pro feature that only works on Elementor pages. A dedicated cursor plugin like Ultimate Cursor gives you text, image, icon, shape and eight animated cursors for free, on any builder. The add-on cursor makes sense when you already pay for that pack and want to set cursors per widget in the Elementor panel.

Disclosure: WPXERO makes Ultimate Cursor. What follows about each add-on comes from its WordPress.org readme as of October 27, 2026 — the readmes describe their cursor features briefly, so check each plugin's own documentation for the details before buying.

HappyAddons also has an Image Trail effect that makes images follow the cursor — a different idea from replacing the pointer.

Why the add-on cursor is tempting

  • It's already there. If you pay for one of these packs, the cursor costs nothing extra.
  • It's set where you build. Premium Addons applies its cursor to a chosen container or widget, so you style it in the Elementor panel next to the content.
  • One fewer plugin. Fewer vendors to update and keep track of.

Where a dedicated plugin is stronger

It's free. Ultimate Cursor's free version includes five cursor types (text, image, icon, shape, animated), 113 icons, 5 shapes, eight animated effects and two animated backgrounds. Nothing in the dashboard is locked.

It isn't tied to Elementor. The cursor is added to the page itself, so it works on Elementor pages, block-editor pages, WPBakery, Divi and your theme's archive and shop templates — including pages you didn't build with Elementor, such as WooCommerce templates or the blog. An add-on cursor only appears where Elementor renders.

It handles devices and motion for you. Ultimate Cursor hides the cursor on touch devices and doesn't download its scripts there, and its animations follow the visitor's reduced-motion setting. It also doesn't load inside builder editors, so the Elementor panel keeps its normal pointer while you work.

It loads only what you use. Each animated effect is a separate file downloaded only when your configuration needs it. Add-on packs vary in how much they load, and you can't always tell from the readme.

It does one job in depth. Ultimate Cursor Pro adds Interactive Hover — the cursor grows, changes colour, glows, pulls toward the element and shows labels like "View" or "Play" — plus several cursor configurations, page, CSS selector and HTML element targeting, 20 more shapes, Circular Text and settings for every effect.

The cost comparison

If you'd only buy an add-on's Pro plan for the cursor, compare like for like: Ultimate Cursor is free for a site-wide cursor, and Pro starts at $24.99 a year for one site. Add-on Pro plans bundle dozens of widgets you may not need — good value if you'll use them, expensive for a cursor alone.

If you already have an add-on Pro licence, try its cursor first. Move to a dedicated plugin if you hit a limit: no cursor outside Elementor pages, no animated effects you like, or no hover labels.

Can you use both?

You can, but don't run two custom cursors on the same page — they'll fight over the pointer. If you keep an add-on cursor on some Elementor sections, use Ultimate Cursor Pro's targeting to keep its cursor off those sections, or switch the add-on's cursor off.

Common Questions

According to their WordPress.org readmes, the custom cursor is a Pro feature in ElementsKit, Essential Addons, Premium Addons, Jeg Kit and Unlimited Elements. HappyAddons lists a Happy Mouse Cursor in its GSAP Animation Pack without saying whether it is free.

No. A standalone plugin such as Ultimate Cursor adds a cursor from its own dashboard, so it works on Elementor pages without Elementor Pro or a paid add-on.

Ultimate Cursor adds the cursor to the page itself, so it keeps working with the block editor, WPBakery, Divi or any theme. Add-on cursors only apply to pages built with Elementor.

When you already pay for that add-on's Pro plan and want to set a cursor per container or widget inside the Elementor panel.
