Choose MenuVerse if you want an app-style bottom navigation bar as well as a hamburger menu, a setup that works on block themes, and a very light footprint. Choose WP Mobile Menu if you want a heavily branded slide-out menu with a header banner, and — in its premium e-commerce edition — a sliding cart and product filter inside the menu.
Disclosure: WPXERO makes MenuVerse; this comparison covers MenuVerse 0.5.0. What we say about WP Mobile Menu (version 2.9) comes from its WordPress.org readme as of October 27, 2026. MenuVerse is new, with a much smaller install base than WP Mobile Menu's 70,000+.

What WP Mobile Menu does well
WP Mobile Menu has been a go-to mobile menu for years. The free version gives you a three-level slide-out menu, a branded header with logo or text, an overlay mask, menu background images, Google Fonts, styling controls, and an option to hide your theme's menu or any other element when the mobile menu shows.
Premium adds push and full-width display types, per-page menus, logged-in-only menus, live search in the header, header banners, footer menus, 2,000+ icons, animated icons and five menu levels. The premium e-commerce edition adds a menu cart icon, a sliding cart with checkout and view-cart buttons, account links and a mobile product filter.
Pick it if: you want a richly branded slide-out menu, or you want the cart and product filter to live inside the mobile menu itself.
What MenuVerse does differently
MenuVerse gives you two navigation patterns from the menus you already have:
A bottom navigation bar pinned to the bottom of the screen, like a phone app — four buttons free with a More drawer for overflow, or a bar that scrolls sideways. Buttons can link to a page or URL, or open a search sheet scoped to the site, WooCommerce products or Easy Digital Downloads. Five ways to mark the current page, labels above or below icons, badges, and safe-area padding for notched phones. See how to add a bottom navigation bar.
A hamburger menu that slides in from the left or right with accordion submenus that open at the branch the visitor is on, an optional top bar with your logo, body scroll lock, a focus trap and focus return for keyboard and screen-reader users. See how to add a hamburger menu.
Use either, or both together.
It's also built to be light and portable:
- Block themes: reads classic menus and block Navigation menus, and puts Appearance → Menus back on block themes that hide it. See Appearance → Menus missing?
- Size: each module is under 6 KB gzipped (JavaScript and CSS combined), in vanilla JavaScript. A page with no MenuVerse menu downloads nothing.
- Self-contained: SVG icons ship with the plugin; no icon font, no CDN.
- Placement your way: a block, a shortcode, a PHP template tag, or optional automatic insertion — off by default, so nothing is injected without you choosing it.
MenuVerse Pro adds WhatsApp and phone buttons, live cart and wishlist counts, per-button visibility by role or sign-in state, page rules, gradients and frosted glass, a dark-mode palette, push and full-screen menus, search and social links in the panel, swipe-to-close and hiding the theme's own menu on small screens. It starts at $19.99 a year.
The real choice: bottom bar or slide-out
The biggest difference isn't a feature list — it's the navigation pattern.
- A slide-out menu hides everything behind a tap. It's good for big menus.
- A bottom bar keeps four or five key destinations — Shop, Search, Cart, Account, Call — under the visitor's thumb on every page, the way phone apps do.
Many sites benefit from both: a bottom bar for the top actions and a hamburger menu for everything else. MenuVerse does both from one dashboard; with WP Mobile Menu you'd add a second plugin for the bottom bar.
