What is Iframe Block?

Iframe Block adds one dedicated block to the WordPress block editor for every external embed that has no first-party core block: videos, maps, audio players, dashboards, booking tools, donation widgets, LMS players, calendars and forms. Paste a link, pick an aspect ratio and publish. YouTube and Vimeo share, Shorts, live, channel and unlisted links are converted to proper player URLs, with start times and playlists kept. Aspect ratios reserve the space before the embed loads so nothing jumps, YouTube privacy mode switches to youtube-nocookie.com, and lazy-loaded embeds load once and never reload on scroll. Every iframe gets an accessible title, a semantic figure and figcaption, and a noscript fallback link, and only http(s) URLs are accepted.

Iframe Block Features

Everything Iframe Block can do — Pro additions are marked

One Block for Every Embed

Videos, maps, audio players, dashboards, booking tools, donation widgets, LMS players, calendars and forms — anything without a core embed block.

Responsive Aspect Ratios

16:9, 4:3, 1:1, 21:9 and 9:16 reserve the space before the embed loads. Fixed pixel heights are still available for maps, forms and dashboards.

Smart YouTube & Vimeo Links

Watch, share, Shorts, live and embed links, playlists and start times are normalised; Vimeo channel, group and unlisted links become proper player URLs.

YouTube Privacy Mode

One toggle switches YouTube to youtube-nocookie.com, so no viewing cookies are set until playback starts.

Lazy-Loading That Behaves

Each block has its own load margin, embeds load once and never reload on scroll, and the helper script loads only on pages with a lazy embed. Watch for dynamic content covers sliders, tabs and infinite scroll.

SEO & Accessibility Markup

A semantic figure and figcaption, a required accessible title on every iframe, and a noscript fallback link for crawlers and script-less visitors.

Safe by Default

Only http(s) URLs are accepted, inline styles are filtered for known XSS vectors, sandbox tokens are validated and a strict referrer policy is always set.

Updates Never Break Old Embeds

Markup from earlier versions is kept as a registered deprecation, so existing embeds keep validating.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Iframe Block

YouTube and Vimeo refuse to play inside the admin screen, so the block shows the official poster image while editing. The real player renders on the published page.

Unlisted Vimeo links that carry a hash are supported — the hash is passed to the player. Private videos that require a login cannot be embedded by any plugin.

No. Enable Watch for dynamic content and embeds inserted after page load are picked up too. Embeds load once and are never reloaded when they scroll back into view.

Only sites that allow embedding. Many services send X-Frame-Options or a frame-ancestors policy that blocks iframes; the browser enforces that and no plugin can override it.

No. Markup from earlier versions is kept as a registered deprecation, so old embeds keep validating and are migrated silently the next time you edit them.
